Delta Air Lines is launching a new way for pets to travel, with the introduction of CarePod.

Delta CarePod is a travel carrier being offered to Delta passengers. The carrier includes real-time updates of your pet’s journey, and is initially being launched at eight U.S. locations: Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York (JFK and LaGuardia), San Francisco, and West Palm Beach. After launch, CarePod will roll out to all Delta U.S. locations.

“Continuous innovation is in Delta’s DNA and the launch of the CarePod pet travel carrier, an industry first, is an example of us seeking out innovative partnerships and looking at ways to improve the customer experience throughout all parts of their journey,” said Shawn Cole, vice president of Delta Cargo. “As the only airline to offer this premium pet travel solution, it represents a significant improvement for the millions of people who want to travel with their four-legged family members.”

Delta CarePod also offers a number of other safety features, including:

Industrial-strength walls that will help protect against temperature fluctuations.
Multi-layers windows and doors with angled blinds to help your pet block out visual stress.
A brand new hydration system that will hold up to a liter of water and a spill-proof water bowl.
GPS tracking and monitoring system managed by experts, with a system you can track during the journey with your phone.
Made from non-toxic materials that are UV and antibacterial-treated.

The Delta CarePod pet travel carrier can hold dogs and cats permitted in a 300 series crate, or smaller, and can be booked between three and 13 days before your flight.
