Delta Airlines has announced they are now offering free mobile messaging on their flights, on platforms iMessage, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger.

According to the airline, the free messaging will be available on all Gogo-enabled flights, and began on Oct. 1. The announcement is a part of their multi-billion dollar investment in their customers’ experience.

“We know many of Delta’s customers want or need to stay connected in the air and on the ground, which is why we’re investing in an easy, free way to send and receive messages inflight through some of the most popular global platforms,” said Tim Mapes, Delta’s Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “Coupled with our investments in seat-back screens, free entertainment and High-Speed Wi-Fi, free messaging is one more way customers can choose how to make the most of their time on Delta flights.”

Delta is also expanding their High-Speed wi-fi and entertainment options, as well as upgrading seatback entertainment screens. The airline will be installing 600 more airplanes with high-speed wi-fi in the next two years — for both domestic and international flights.

Customers looking to access the free messaging can do so through Delta’s wi-fi portal page, Gogo in-flight.
