Planning your first big trip can be intimidating — for many reasons. But planning your second or third, or hundredth, trip seems to get easier and easier. So why is planning that first trip so stressful?
You don’t want to mess it up
When you have never traveled before, and you know you may never return to that city or country, it’s intimidating to try to plan the perfect trip. You want to make everything perfect because you don’t want to regret anything.
But what you will learn on each trip is that you will have so much going on, everything you do will make it worth it. If you miss something, you will have done so much else that it will be difficult to regret anything.
You don’t have experiences
Sometimes you just don’t know what you need to plan for — and that can also be intimidating. For instance, if you plan an entire trip but then realize you will need a rental car, that can be stressful, especially in a foreign country.
Each time you plan a trip, you will learn from the experiences and mistakes you made on your previous trips and know exactly what you need to plan for.
You want to do too much
When traveling to a city full of culture and landmarks, it’s easy to want to see every single one of them — and there is nothing wrong with that. But one thing to remember is that if you’re exhausted the entire trip, you may not have a good time.
You will learn if it’s more important to you to have a good time or to feel like you need to see everything on your list.
Experiences can be about mistakes too, so a good thing to remember is that if you mess something up, it won’t be the end of the world. Planning for each trip will get easier and easier, and that first experience will likely spark your love of traveling — so much that you will want to start planning your next trip even before you arrive home.
